Writing local recommendations that get people out the door
A post can collect likes and still send nobody to the place it describes. These are the habits that turn a recommendation into an actual visit, from specific details to a clear reason to go this week.

In short
- Only recommend places you would send a close friend; enthusiasm you actually feel is the most persuasive thing you have.
- Use specific details (what to order, when to go, practical tips) and give an honest reason to go soon.
- Make your referral link easy to find, say plainly that it is a referral link, and show the place as it really is.
Most creators know the feeling. A post does well, the likes keep coming, and yet nobody mentions that they actually went. On KUPELY, what counts is the visit, so it is worth thinking about what makes a person stop scrolling and decide to go somewhere.
The good news is that it rarely comes down to production value. It comes down to trust, detail, and a clear next step.
Only recommend places you would send a friend
Your audience follows you because your taste has been reliable. Every recommendation spends a little of that trust. If you would not tell a close friend to go, do not post about it, no matter how the offer looks.
This is also the most practical advice in this article. People can tell when a creator is excited, and they can tell when someone is reading from a script. Enthusiasm you actually feel is the most persuasive thing you have.
Be specific enough to picture
"Great little cafe, highly recommend" gives nobody a reason to go. Compare it with something like this:
The cardamom bun comes out warm around nine. Sit by the window, the light is lovely before the lunch rush.
Specific details do two things. They make the place feel real, and they give people a concrete plan. Try to include at least a few of these:
One thing to order or do, and why you like it.
The best time to go, or when to avoid the crowd.
Something practical: parking, how long the wait tends to be, whether it works with kids or a dog.
Who you would bring there: a first date, your parents, a friend who works from home.
Give people a reason to go soon
A recommendation without timing often becomes "one day." Help your audience turn it into "this Saturday." A seasonal menu, a weekend opening, or simply saying "I'm going back on Friday" makes it feel like something to do now rather than something to remember.
Do not invent urgency. If there is no deadline, do not make one up. A clear, honest suggestion of when to go works well on its own.
Make the link easy to find and easy to trust
Your referral link is how a visit gets credited to you, so treat it with care:
Put it where your audience expects links on that platform, such as your bio, a story link, or the post description.
Say plainly where it goes. "Link to their page is in my bio" is enough.
Be open that it is a referral link. Being transparent keeps your audience's trust and is the right thing to do.
The link sends people straight to the business, either its own website or its KUPELY page, so they can check the address and hours before they head out.
Show the place as it really is
Heavily edited photos can backfire. If a guest arrives and the room looks nothing like your video, they feel misled, and they remember who sent them. Film in natural light, show the actual size of the portions, and include the queue if there usually is one. Honest content builds the kind of trust that brings people back for your next recommendation too.
Follow up
If people ask questions in your comments, answer them. "Is it good for a group of six?" is a person planning a visit. A quick, helpful reply can be the thing that gets them there.
A week or two later, a short follow-up post can work well too: a second visit, a different dish, or a note that a follower went and loved it (with their permission).
A quick self-check before you post
Would I send a close friend here?
Does the post include at least one specific detail and one practical tip?
Is it clear when someone might go?
Is the link easy to find, and is it clear that it is a referral link?
Posts that pass this check tend to earn fewer empty likes and more real visits, which is exactly what both you and the business are hoping for.
